For most properties with a hipped roof the internal space in the unconverted loft appears small, however by changing the sloping side of the property to an upright gable end the volume of space available to create your dream conversion increases significantly.
Once a rear dormer is added a master bedroom with en suite is easily accommodated. Depending on the size of the property this can sometimes accommodate two bedrooms with either a separate shower room or en suite. Obviously the new space can be designed to accommodate you and your families’ individual requirements.
Loft Bedroom, Walk-in Wardrobe & En Suite
Our clients at this property in Winchmore Hill researched comprehensively before appointing a contractor; they were particularly keen on preserving some of the 1930’s properties character whilst adding a modern twist. Their remit was to create a master bedroom, with a walk-in wardrobe and an en suite bathroom.
We were looking for a company who could really help us to achieve a bright modern look, whilst adding some individual features. During our initial consultation with Rooftop Rooms it was apparent that the company had a wealth of experience in developing individual bespoke lofts. Even at this early stage of the process ideas and suggestions were provided and the approach was very different from what we had experienced with other companies. It was also good to learn that Rooftop Rooms had their own architectural & department, the initial enthusiasm and unique ideas carried through to their really friendly design team.
Expert Design & Architectural Advice
Following our architectural survey we were able to discuss a number of features with our client that would enhance the finished build. It was apparent from the plans that when the new stair case would be installed this would cross the existing gable window; there are a number of ways that this can be addressed. With our design team this homeowner decided to replace the existing window and the proposed loft level gable window with a feature full length gable window, the results as you can see are stunning!
Practical Design Features
The main feature of this stunning loft conversion is the vaulted ceiling preserving the high pitch of the roof and making the loft feel light and airy. With the addition of a high level roof light the outcome is fantastic.
This conversion was a major decision for us and I think, like a lot of people, we were quite nervous. However we were introduced to our project coordinator before works commenced, she reassured us and her calm approach meant that we really felt like she had a good handle on the project, keeping us well informed. We are delighted with the outcome; friends & family are all amazed at what we have achieved. This was all made possible by Rooftop Rooms.
Creating Living Space
A similar styled property in Oakwood saw the clients with a growing family rapidly running out of space, looking to utilise the expansive roof for a valuable area for themselves.
We decided to convert the loft as we were running out of space and needed a fourth bedroom. We were hoping for a large bedroom with a big bathroom that would feel airy and spacious as many lofts can feel a little claustrophobic which we wanted to avoid.
Design For Living
Our architectural technicians produced a plan which, aside from some valuable design ideas on site, achieved a spectacular master suite to complement the existing property. A perfect home for a growing family.
The enormous master bedroom in the loft, with French doors and Juliet balcony also has the welcome addition of some unique storage space. This property had the added benefit of a large roof void at the front of the property, with this area vaulted out this valuable additional space has provided our client with the perfect dressing area, with a stunning, indulgent en suite that can accommodate both a bath and a shower.
As with all of our projects our construction work is completed by experienced tradesmen, this combined with our administration support team means that each project is completed to the highest standard with excellent communication throughout the process.
From the day Roof Top Rooms started on our loft things moved pretty quickly; there were a number of different builders, plumbers, electricians and decorators coming in over the course of the conversion, all of whom were wonderful to work with, polite and tidy. We were sent helpful weekly updates letting us know what to expect the following week. We are absolutely delighted with the outcome – the room has exceeded our expectations and we are enjoying the new space it has provided in our home.
