Project Description

This is an example of a mid terraced property in a conservation area.

In this case, the property is located in a much sought after conservation area in Muswell Hill, North London. Like many of our clients this was the second project we had worked on together, having previously completed both a loft conversion and ground floor kitchen extension at their previous home in Muswell Hill, also located in another stringent conservation area.

This client’s past experience meant they were confident that with our experienced architectural department, dealing with all aspects of the design and subsequent planning application, the project had the best chance of approval with the minimum of compromise.

Our dedicated design team will work closely with the individual planning department to achieve approval. The project will then be ready to hand over to our professional construction teams to create the approved conversion design.

The house is a bit quirky with lots of level changes and we wanted to make use and integrate this into the kid’s rooms with some quirky features.

Rooftop rooms were good at working with us on our ideas and we are very happy with the outcome, having created a fun, bright new floor for the kids, thus freeing up space in the rest of the house for other purposes

With a sizeable internal roof space and the addition of two dormers this conversion was able to provide two good sized bedrooms; a separate shower room and a feature play area in the front pediment.

As you can see from the images the kids in this family certainly got some great space with some pretty special features created by our very talented carpenters, creating an elevated bed frame with bespoke ladder access and a great little secret door between the rooms!

Now the room is complete and our baby boy has arrived we massively appreciate the extra space, when family come to visit they have their own floor, and the rest of the house remains ours. When our little one is a bit older we will move up to the loft, and our plan is to create a beautiful dressing room with built in wardrobes in the space in between the bedroom and the en-suite. The extension has added another third onto our home, and the quality of the work speaks for itself when people say “It looks as though it’s always been part of the house”. We are thrilled with our new conversion and thank Rooftop Rooms for making it possible.
